Glorious shout it out series#
2 in this edition of the “Why the hell are we playing this game in Jerry World?” neutral game series in Arlington. As you know, the Aggies were in some serious trouble at the end of the game. Oh, while we’re reliving this glorious moment, let’s take a look at the Piggy tears and stunned faces after that play.įrom then on, it was game on, and the Aggies woke up and played competitive ball, jumping out to a 23-14 lead. Pay attention to the upper-right-hand corner for the sprinting yell leader while Demani is running down the sideline. I know the yell leaders have been under fire for a couple of weeks, but it’s great to see this scene. Man, even the red, blue and green play-signaling Mario Brothers trio was pumped as hell on the sidelines. You don’t mind if we watch it again, do you?
Glorious shout it out cracked#
But for the first hour of that game, they were having one helluva party in Jerry World at the expense of disheartened Aggie fans who made the trip.īut even though Devon Achane cracked a long run that eventually helped cut the lead to 14-7, it seemed business as usual for KJ Jefferson as he quickly re-established control and was poised at the A&M goal line to continue a nasty onslaught by this backwoods, country cousin bunch. They crawled out of the Ozarks and descended upon civilization to call the Hogs and do whatever it is Hillbillies do. And boy, were the Piggy faithful having a great time. The offense slept walked through the first quarter without a first down, unable to get anything on the ground, and unable and unwilling to throw the ball downfield against a swiss cheese pass defense. In the meantime, the offense looked stale, predictable and tired. Sam Pittman and his Piggies came out ready to play and ready to shove the ball down our throats, and we didn’t have an answer on defense. We may be finding it impossible to rejoice in our circumstances, but God remains God, and we are reminded in verse 12 that our rejoicing is “in the Lord,” not necessarily in the situations we see around us.To be honest, I was getting that Oklahoma 77-0 feeling after that second Arkansas touchdown in the first quarter. The wicked will get their comeuppance and the righteous will receive life (verses 7–11), even if the timing of that is not what we would like or expect, as the nature of life is measured by eternal values and not those of this world. The Lord does reign (1–6), he is king over the whole earth, even when natural disasters seem overwhelming and powerful groups or nations appear to be totally out of his control. Of course, sometimes we can feel so bad that we just can’t relate to the positive psalms and it is so helpful when the lament psalms remind us that others have felt the same way and it is OK to express negative feelings.Įven in the darkest times, however, it is good to remind ourselves that truths concerning God’s nature and actions remain true regardless of how we feel about ourselves, life in general or our difficult circumstances. When we are feeling positive ourselves, praise psalms like this one give us the words to help us shout out our worship of God. There are two main types: laments, which are really complaints and concentrate on human situations and how bad they can make us feel and praise or thanksgiving psalms, which concentrate on God, who he is and what he has done. Different psalms can be helpful in different circumstances. There are many different kinds of psalms.
